Okay, so yesterday, Jake and I had our first date. And to be honest, it wasn't that great.

"Hey Jake."

"Hey Lexi."

"Um, sorry that things were kind of... Boring, yesterday." I say, looking down at my feet.

"Oh, it's okay. I didn't really know what to expect." Jake says.

I look up and see him smile to reassure me. "So next time, do you just want to hang out or something?"

Jake's smile grows wider. "Okay, sure."

"Cool. Are you busy on Saturday? We could go get breakfast at Squat and Gobble and then just wing it from there." I say, smiling like an idiot.

"Yeah. Sounds good to me."

The week could not have gone any slower, but it was finally Saturday.

I smile when I see Jake waiting for me outside Squat and Gobble. I bounce over to him. "Hey."

"Hey." He says back, returning the smile.

We walk into the restaurant and look at the menu. "Do you know what you want?" Jake asks me. I nod. "Okay, I'll pay."

"Hello. What can I get for you two today?" The man at the register asks.

"Um, can I get two side crepes with just butter and sugar?"

"Of course." The man puts the order into the computer.

"And can I get a Nutella crepe?" Jake asks the man.

"Sure." He replies, then looks at me. "Wait, so you ordered two crepes, for yourself?"

I smile sheepishly and Jake laughs. "The side crepes are small!" I argue, my face flushed.

The man laughs. "Okay. Anything else?"

"Nope. We're fine." Jake answers.

"Alright. Your total is fourteen dollars and thirty-four cents."

Jake takes the money out of his wallet and pays the man.

"Thank you. Here's your table number. Sit anywhere you like."

We walk away with our number and sit at the back of the restaurant. Jake smiles at me. "That guy was nice."

I nod and smile back. "Yeah. He seems cool."

"So, how's Jaden?"

I sigh. "Honestly, he's being an emotionless blob. It's sad. He's not even putting any effort into our friendship anymore."

"Aw, that sucks."

"Yeah, tell me about it. When I'm talking to him, it's like talking to a brick wall." I scoff.

"Ooh. Man that's too bad. You guys were good friends, even after you guys broke up..."

"Yup... Oh, are you busy tomorrow?"

"Nope. Why?"

"My friend Jillian wants to meet you. I have a volleyball tournament tomorrow. Wanna come?"

"Sure. What time?"

"Um, not sure yet... I'll text it to you later."

"Okay... Can I see your phone?"

I laugh. "Why?"

"I wanna see if it's the same as mine."

I laugh. "Okay, can I see your phone?"

"Yeah, here."

We switch phones and I study his. "Adrian the Softie, Ben The BFFLD..." Jake reads.

"Are you looking through my contacts?" I ask.

"Yeah..."

I smirk. "Okay. I'm gonna look through yours then."

I scroll down to my name. Jake labeled me as "Lexi my girlfriend". I smile seeing this. I scroll up and find Carmel, the girl who Jake used to like. The second I read her name, something pops into my mind. "Wait a minute, so you've been lying about liking Carmel for three months?"

Jake gives me a small grin. "Um, yeah. I actually started feeling bad." He chuckles. "I mean, if there's one person that I tell my secrets to, it's you... Unless the secret is about you. Then I tell Darren."

"Wow. I'm surprised he's the only one that you told."

"Yeah. But remember, you're like the only one who I actually tell my secrets to."

"So, I guess you and Darren are close now?"

"Yup."

"Well, that's good."

"Here are your crepes." The waiter says, giving me my butter and sugar crepes. He then gives Jake his Nutella crepe.

"Ooh. That looks good." I say, staring at the crepe.

Jake cuts the it open. "Oh my God, it's filled with Nutella."

I laugh as Jake struggles to keep the hazel chocolaty goodness from dropping on him.

I finish my crepes before Jake and sigh in content. "You really like crepes, huh?" Jake asks, trying not to laugh.

A giggle escapes me. "Yup. The first time I had a crepe, it was at this camp called Steve and Kate's. They were soo good!"

"Cool. Hey wanna try some of mine?"

"Sure."

I'm about to cut off a piece of Jake's crepe but he stops me. "I'll feed it to you." He says with a smirk on his face.

I shrug back and smile. "Okay. Less work for me!"

I lean forward. Jake leans over and holds out a piece of the crepe on his fork.

I can't help but laugh as he feeds it to me, but soon I'm too focused on the taste of warm gooey chocolate in my mouth. "Yumm." Jake laughs and I smile. "Okay, now hurry up and finish or I'm finishing it for you!"

"Okay okay!" Jake finishes up his crepe, but gets some Nutella on the corner of his mouth.

"Jake?"

"Yeah?"

"You got some..." I gesture to the corner of his mouth. Jake wipes off the opposite side.

"Still there?"

I roll my eyes but giggle. "I'll get it."

My finger swipes the Nutella off and I lick it off my finger. Jake's cheeks are as red as apples and I laugh. "Okay, so where do you want to go?"

"Um," He shrugs. "I don't know. Your call."

"Okay, Radio Shack it is."

I grab Jake's hand and pull him out of Squat and Gobble.

Once inside, Jake immediately walks to where the headphones are. "I am going to get these sooner or later." He says, looking at the Skullcandy lowrider headphones.

"Eh, I already have my Beats." I say.

"Oh yeah. Beats are better by a mile. But they're way too expensive."

"Ooh."

"Yeah... I love Radio Shack."

I laugh. "Yeah. That's why I chose to drag you here."

Jake laughs. "Ha. Okay then, we're going to the bookstore next."

Without another word, he grabs my hand and pulls me out of Radio Shack and across the street to Book's Inc.

"So, read any good books lately?" Jake asks me.

"Um, just this book called Gamer Girl... But I'm not sure if it's really your kind of book." I say, smirking at him.

"What's it about?" Jake asks.

"Why don't you find out for yourself?" I find the book in the bookshelves and pull it out to hand to him.

He takes it and reads the synopsis on the back. "Hm, okay. I'll read it."

I raise an eyebrow. "Really?"

"Yeah. It sounds good."

I grin. "Okay. I'm gonna look for another book and then we can just sit down and read, if that's okay with you."

"Sure."

So there we were, sitting against the book case, reading for an hour. Everything was quiet and relaxing; it was nice.

Although it was nice, just sitting here reading, I wanted to go do something else. So I put down the book I was reading and Jake looks up at me. "Hey." He says with a small smile.

I smile back. "Hey. How's Gamer Girl?"

He puts the book down. "It's actually interesting. I like it."

"Good," I say," that's my favorite book."

"Well, I can see why."

"Do you want to go hang out somewhere else now?" I ask.

"Do you?"

"Kinda."

"Well, want to go hang out at the park?"

"Okay."

Jake gets up and stretches, then helps me up.

"Where do you wanna sit?" I ask him when we enter the park.

"Hmm. Want to go sit on the grass?"

"Yeah, sure."

We go lay down on the grass and I close my eyes, enjoying the sun on my skin.

"So..."

I open my eyes and sigh. "Hey, I have a question."

"Ask away."

"How much do you like me? From scale of one to ten, ten being the best." I ask.

"Um, I'm not going to answer that right now." He pauses. "But, I'll answer any other questions that you probably have."

"O-kay then. Why do you like me?"

Jake sucks in a breath, then lets it back out. "Well, you're a great person. You're pretty. You always know what to say and when to say it. You've always been a good friend and I know you always have my back. I can tell you anything and vice versa." He smirks. "That's kind of the main reason I knew you liked me; you wouldn't tell me."

Butterflies fly around in my stomach. "Oh, wow." Is all I can say.

"So, why do you like me?"

"You're such a great person. You're nice, cute, funny. You're an amazing friend. You can be there not only for a guy but you can also be there for a girl too. Not many guys really listen to a girl's problems. But anyways, you're my best friend for life and death. It was kind of impossible for my feelings not to grow." I say, heat rushing to my cheeks.

I look at Jake from the corner of my eye to see his reaction; all I can see is a smile that I caused, and that made me even happier.

A bing noise interrupts the nice moment, and Jake pulls out his phone. His smile turns into a frown. "Crap. My mom is here."

I sit up. "What?"

"I'm really sorry. I wish I could stay longer, really." He says as he gets up and starts walking back to the entrance of the park.

"Hey wait." I get up and touch Jake's arm, which stops him from leaving right away. "Um, I know we didn't really do much, but... This was nice." Before Jake can say something back, I quickly kiss his cheek and flash him a smile. "See you soon, okay?"

Jake is stunned at first, and I chuckle. "You shouldn't keep your mom waiting."

He shakes himself out of his shock and smiles at me. "She can wait a few more seconds. This time is a little more important." He says, then returns the kiss on the cheek, making me smile for the rest of the day.

The End.
Okay I'm gonna be honest, this was rushed. Sorry! I was workin on this for a while but I never finished it so I just finished it now!

Very nice! The story wans't that complex or original, but you make up for it by the quality of the writing. Plus the characters are nice. Have you written anything else with them in it?
